The 3G quad band HTC Wildfire is a hugely popular handset which runs Google’s Android operating system. This means owners of this incredible device have access to over 30,000 apps from the Android community, via the Android Market.
The handset comes with a 3.2 inch touch screen and the software is custom built for the web age, including the trademark Pinch and Zoom navigation feature which is particularly good for mobile browsing on a small screen. The device is also social network ready, providing integration right out of the box with the useful HTC Sense Friend stream app. There are of course additional apps available to update and upload to specific social networks such as Facebook and Twitter, and even video upload direct to YouTube.
For the budding photographers amongst us the Wildfire comes with a rear facing 5 mega pixel camera built in with LED flash and video support. As with the social network features there are plenty of features for photo editing, plus a range of apps available from the Android Market for advanced image manipulation. Built in memory of 512 megabytes backed up by a 32 GB (max) Micro SD card slot provide plenty of storage for even the most obsessive snapper, so there’s great potential for Wildfire owners to snap away to their heart’s content.
Whilst infra-red support isn’t available on this device, it does boast Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and direct cable support for connectivity to PCs and other devices. There’s the obligatory email and messenger software too, so you can be as connected as you like on the move. Because it’s Android, you of course get support for Gmail and Google Maps (great with the GPS functionality when you need a bit of help finding your way). As mentioned, you can load the HTC Wildfire up with up to 32 GB on a Micro SD card, so there’s a ton of space for music on the move, and even an FM radio if you’re fancying a change.
The HTC Wildfire is available in the UK on Three and Vodafone.
